The Rustin Knights bats are hot to start the season, scoring 17 runs in just two games.
After kicking off the season with a 10-8 victory over the Coatesville Red Raiders under the lights Monday evening, the Golden Knights took the field and took down the Sun Valley Vanguards 7-1 on Wednesday, moving to 2-0 on the young season.
Chris Catenacci took the bump for Rustin and virtually dominated all afternoon. The tall, powerful righty went the distancing tossing seven strong inning, giving up just three hits.
Catenacci was mowing down the Vanguards at a consistent rate mixing his heavy fastball with a knee bending curveball that had hitters flailing at the dish throughout the games tenure.
Senior third basemen Kevin Jewitt, who will be attending Villanova on a baseball scholarship next fall led the offensive outpouring going 2-3, and sophomore shortstop Jimmy Brennan chipped in with two hits as well in just his second start of his Golden Knight career.
Coming off a Flyers Cup victory at Ice Line on the 18th of March and a state championship appearance this past Sunday in Pittsburgh, Matt Gosik exchanged his ice skates for metal cleats and some leather lacing a double, contributing to the impressive offensive display by the Rustin lineup.
Rustin opens their home schedule on Friday at Bayard Rustin High School when they take host to the Kennet Blue Devils in a Ches-Mont League matchup.
